EVENTS & CLUB NEWS     -    DATES FOR THE DIARY!

10th & 11th July 2010 - SILVERSTONE GRAND PRIX

Sorry guys but due to the failure of Donnington to get their act together, it looks like the British Grand Prix is being held at Silverstone and due to the increased amount of helicopter traffic we will be closed for the weekend for safety reasons

22nd June to 27th June - TENT CITY BOOGIE

Following the success of the previous event we will once again be hosting the "Tent City Boogie"

Details to be announced shortly.

23rd & 24th April 2011 - HINTON SCRAMBLES 2011

The ever popular Nish Memorial scrambles will take place over the weekend of 23rd & 24th April 2011.

For those of you who are new to skydiving and/or are unsure of how scrambles events are run, here’s a brief explanation….

The event is open to A certificate jumpers and above.  All entrants are divided into 4 categories according to jump numbers/4 way ability.  Each team is made up of one skydiver from each of these 4 groups i.e. 1 skydiver who has yet to attain FS1 (otherwise known as ‘the Baldric!’), 1 skydiver who has FS1 but is still relatively inexperienced, 1 intermediate skydiver and 1 experienced skydiver (otherwise known as ‘the skygod!’).   In this way, skydivers who would not normally jump together get to do so and at the same time have fun and learn some new skills.  The competition is run over 5 rounds, 4 rounds of ‘random’ 4 way (i.e. formations from the IPC dive pool but no blocks!) and a speed star round.  On each random round you will score 1 point for each formation built within the given working time.  The speed star round is judged on the time it takes your team to build a star after exiting the plane unlinked.  Teams are drawn on the Saturday morning so you never know who you may end up jumping with, this is what makes Scramble great fun.

This really is a popular event.  Registration is by 9am on the Saturday and the competition will take place over 2 days with some form of party/bbq  on Saturday night.  Because of the popularity of this event, particularly with the lesser experienced skydivers, I would advise that you register early to avoid disappointment.

Costs are £20 registration fee (refundable at the close of the meet) and the usual cost of a high ticket for skydivers for each round.  Cameramen are allocated to each team on a jump by jump basis and the cost of the camera slot is covered by Hinton Skydiving Centre.  This has the added bonus of a good film show on the Saturday/Sunday night when all the footage is put together for everyone to watch.

So book the event in your diary now and lets look forward to some Easter sunshine and 4 way…..

WIRELESS BROADBAND AT HINTON

Yes it's here!! After 4 years of beating on BT's door they eventually upgraded the last 60 metres of cable enabling us to have a decent connection to install wireless broadband.

So....... whatever the weather, or if you need to stay connected to make your boss think you're still working.... come to Hinton and get connected.
